Macbook Pro Wont Download Adobe Reader

I just installed Sierra 10.12.6 on my MacBook Pro (13-inch mid-2012) and can't get Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to install, it fails:

But there is no Adobe Reader of any kind in the install location.

I tried everything, including all suggestions from Adobe's web site. I even logged in as Root user, downloaded the program and installed from there. The same failure occurred every time.

The 'Installation' section of the Installer shows two parts of Adobe Reader being installed, the full version and the browser version. In desperation I tried running the installer after disabling (removing the check-mark from) the browser installation, thinking that that might make a difference; it didn't.

Now for the saving grace.

My habit of deleting all data from every new Mac I buy, dividing the hard drive into two partitions, then re-installing the OS on one of them paid off once again. My MacBook Pro has been running Yosemite for some time now, the second partition didn't have an OS on it, only data, so that's where I installed Sierra. When every attempt to install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC failed, I simply dragged the program from the Yosemite/Applications folder into the Sierra/Applications folder. Voila! All is well in Mudville.
